Two tornadoes occurred on this date, both within close proximity of one another. Radar data shown will display both of these storms - each storm is described below:
Tornado #1: Southwestern Kanawha County to Downtown Charleston

- End Time: 7:00 p.m. (38.3529, -81.6453)
- Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph
- Path Length: 8.25 miles
- Path Width Maximum: 350 yards

- Date: June 24th, 2019
Details from NWS storm survey: A tornado touched down 4 miles east/northeast of Alum Creek, just inside the Kanawha County line. This tornado continued moving to the northeast in the vicinity of Route 119 and eventually dissipated near the Kanawha River near downtown Charleston. While the tornado was not continuously on the ground, it frequently touched down along its path. Many trees were snapped and/or uprooted, in addition to minor roof damage. The survey team also noted several areas of non-tornadic wind damage near the tornado path.
Tornado #2: Twilight Drive/Keystone Drive areas of North Charleston

- Path Length: 0.83 miles
- Path Width Maximum: 75 yards

Details from NWS storm survey: This second tornado formed just north of Spring Hill Cemetery. The tornado traveled NNW towards the eastern portion of Twilight Drive and tore down several trees on the highest elevation peak. The tornado then traveled down the northern side of the hill, crossed Twilight Drive, and moved across an open field. A batch of large healthy trees were blown down in a circular motion at the end of the field and this is where the tornado is estimated to have been at its peak strength. The tornado then continued NNW where it blew a steeple off a church along Keystone Drive and then continued up the adjacent hill on the southern edge of KCRW Airport property where the tornado then dissipated.
Survey #3: Wallace area of Sissonville (Determined to be a microburst)

Details from NWS storm survey: An NWS damage survey team determined that a microburst caused damage near Wallace on Monday, June 24, 2019. The microburst began along Sissonville Drive just north of the intersection with Call Drive. Limited tree damage was noted to the north and west of this point. More widespread tree damage was noted to the south along Wolf Pen Drive and Old Tuppers Creek Road. In addition to tree damage, a carport was destroyed, and a fence was pushed over.
